I am NOT a professional Poet.
I am NOT a professional Christian.
I am NOT a professional human. What this signifies is that I am NOT perfect, and I choose to share what I can rather than stress over what I believe are people's high expectations of me. I aim to go as far as God allows in life with this passion, but my mental health is priority number one over a life driven by 'business'; therefore, I am NOT a professional in that sense. Poetry is my therapy, and I simply share it with the world. That's why I started mayadabee.com.
I am a Mother, Wife, Poet, Activist, Online Open Mic Host, FORMER police officer, and Army veteran residing in Dallas, TX. Traveling is a joy of mine. I advocate for mental health and speak out against social injustice based on my personal experiences, both past and present. I firmly believe that poetry is therapy and should be expressed without any filters; that's why my spoken word is raw truth. I am NOT a professional, and my intention is to create a platform where anyone can be heard without the interference of 'professional politics.'

I'm affiliated with the Dallas Poetry Commission and handle the online open mics. Some of the members also host events at local venues. Struggling with mental health and finding solace in reciting my poetry on stage, I conceived the idea of an online open mic that emphasizes 'safe space hosting' rather than merely performing. This initiative has significantly eased my social anxiety while allowing me to support others who may not yet be ready to take the stage but are gradually becoming comfortable expressing themselves through spoken word. My virtual stage is open to everyone, whether it's their first time or they are experienced performers. You can learn more about our community at mayadabee.com, where poetry meets therapy in a supportive environment.

I believe that everyone needs a lifeline or several to stay accountable and maintain their will to live. For some, this may come from God. As a Christian, I relate, but if I'm being honest, it’s my kids, my poetry, and my belief that suicide is the only unforgivable sin that keeps me grounded—avoiding the thought of hell, which is my personal choice for motivation. In a world where thoughts of mental health can be overwhelming, finding your unique lifeline is crucial. Whether it involves engaging in therapy, exploring spoken word, or embracing whatever supports you—find what keeps YOU here! Visit mayadabee.com for additional resources on mental health and poetry to help you on your journey.
